How To Rank A Website Highly
How To Rank A Website |
Getting your website to rank higher in its search engine ranking at this time when new websites are being launched at almost every hour of every day is admittedly quite a challenge, but nevertheless, this shouldn’t make you lose hope because although it is hard, it is not impossible. Years before, it was so easy to be a recognized website because you had little competition. People often visited your site because there was nowhere else to turn to. As time passed by, the old websites earned the trust of the people and had successfully created a name for themselves without any over the top effort. Don’t we all wish we were born during those times? Everything was simple and easy. However since we can’t teleport to another time, we just have to make use of what we have now. I believe that one of the best moves a website or business owner can do now is to use social media to promote his or her website.
The main purpose of social media for most people is to connect one person to another. Through social media, it is easy to get updates about a person’s life based on what he or she posts. We don’t even have to be inactive contact with our friend to know where she ate, or what she ate. If they post it somewhere, we will see it. Facebook is the most popular social media platform nowadays. Personally, I think Facebook is great. You can post hundreds of photos, videos, notes, statuses, and we can chat with friends in a personal message or a group message. Plus, it’s quite easy to use and navigate around in. Almost everyone has a Facebook account. Facebook also aims to cater to everyone, so of course, they cater to businesses. You can create your own page on Facebook. People can like this page so they will be able to get updates from your page which will appear in their newsfeeds. They can even share posts with their friends from your page. Sometimes, even if they will only like something you posted, it will appear in their friend’s newsfeed. For example, John Smith liked KFC’s post. This is a good thing because this means that your website is getting some exposure. Your captions or posts must be interesting enough to capture the attention or curiosity of Facebook users so that they will click the link which will lead to your website. Hits for your website! If you own a business, publicity is always a good thing, unless it is about something that demeans the reputation of your business.
The next thing you should focus on is the over-all feel or appearance of your website. Alright, you have spread the word about your website. Hopefully, people will be curious enough to click it and end up on your site. This is a crucial point. They will either like your site that they will keep coming back to it, or they will think that it’s nothing really special and find some other nicer professional looking one. For people to believe in what you say, you have to look like someone who is in authority. For example, you like dressing for comfort instead of style so you wear a torn dirty 7-year-old sneaker, an overused cotton shirt, and washed up jeans with stains that you consider as marks of experience. You are the CEO of a business company or a law firm. How will your colleagues respect you if you always look like a bum? When you go to a meeting with your shareholders, how will they take you seriously if you look like you just woke up and doesn’t really look like you want to be in a meeting with them? That’s the same with your website. If it looks like a mere sixth-grader made it, and you even use the comic sans font (I have nothing against this font. In fact, it’s cute, but it just doesn’t look like something to be used for business) when your content is about this miracle drug you are selling. Yes, you may argue with me and say that content is the most important component of a successful site. True, but the first thing visitors take note of is the overall appearance of your website. If it looks like a joke, they will probably automatically think it is and won’t bother to continue reading through. It’s so easy to close a tab and open a new one. Your goal here is to make sure they stay on your website and keep browsing.
Too many advertisements are a huge turn-off, especially if they are already getting in the way of your content. Position them strategically around your site so they won’t bother the readers. The color combinations you choose for your website also matters. I guess you should avoid using neon colors cause they aren’t really nice to look at. Being knowledgeable about the psychology of colors won’t hurt. The level of ease in navigating around your site is also a big deal. How can they read more of your posts if they can’t find the next page button? How can they shop from your online website if they can’t find the “buy” option?
Aside from this, the use of keywords in your post is also very important. It’s hard to rank up using popular keywords, but don’t lose hope. Just keep on advertising your website and sticking to the rules Google has set down so you won’t get penalized. Of course, the quality of your content should be great. It should be engaging and interesting. It should want the reader to keep on reading and reading. It should be informative but at the same time, easy to understand. Most people who use Google want the answer immediately. Make sure to also double check your grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
In conclusion, getting your website to rank up isn’t easy especially since there’s a lot of competition today, but with effort, patience, and dedication, it isn’t impossible to get your website on the first page. If you need more helpful tips, feel free to leave a comment below.
